9. Workshop as a shelter. There are some children who stay in (stay over night and spend the day) in it.

Number of Children

There are approximately 100 children (active & passive) who are involved in activities conducted by Rebung Workshop. They consist of couple stages of ages of 0-18 years old.

Aims Focus

1. Providing infrastructures supporting the children to get to know more about their environment.
2. Providing infrastructures supporting children to see the world outside their environment.
3. Providing infrastructures supporting the children to learn how to find ways to learn.
4. Providing infrastructures supporting the children in educations, formal and informal.
5. Providing infrastructures which are able to assist parents and society to create conducive condition for children’s development (such as Community Activity Children Care – Kegiatan Masyarakat Sayang Anak).
6. Providing infrastructures which are able to assist parents and society surrounding the children to leave cultural poverty (such as Communal Activity of Children Care – Kegiatan Masyarakat Sayang Anak).

Objactive Organization

Assisting children to find their identity as “free human” who are “free from” and “free for”, depart from human relationship pattern understanding as creatures who live in and with the earth.

Organization Background

Golden Bamboo Shoots (Rebung) Foundation has been established in January 2002. It is a movement specialized in education – particularly in basic education – environmentally sound and based on children’s right as grafted in Children’s Right Convention (CRC). This workshop gives attention to the children who live in outskirts or residential area for lower classes, where most of them are the victims of cultural poverty.

There are couple points to be focused. They are low self-esteemed, poor imagination, low body-endurance, as well as the ability of thinking because of lack of nutrition. Rebung Workshop is under Rebung Cendani Foundation which is officially existed in the beginning of 2008.
